HLTAID012-Provide First Aid in an Education & Care Setting
The HLTAID012 course is designed for educators and support staff working in educational and care environments. It covers essential first aid skills, including how to manage asthma and anaphylaxis emergencies, providing care until professional help arrives.
This course aligns with the guidelines set by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

What You'll ss learn in a Childcare First Aid Course
- Recognise and respond to medical emergencies in children and infants

Perform CPR and use an AED (defibrillator) effectively

Important Course Information
Participants must be physically capable of performing practical tasks, including 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR and rescue breathing on manikins, and must have access to an internet-enabled device to complete the online/pre-course study.
Participants undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
Certificate Renewal Requirements: This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 36 months

Assessment Activities:

Practical: Perform CPR on adult, child, and infant (incl. AED and recovery position); complete a first aid report; and manage child casualties with anaphylaxis, asthma, choking, bleeding/shock, nosebleeds, fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and envenomation (snake/funnel-web spider).

Theory: Written multiple-choice assessment.
